Thanks! I try to pick things HE would find more annoying than I would. Also, if he had taken the bait and tried to cancel it, he would be getting a whole zoo's worth of subscriptions.
[Oh well. Another time, perhaps.]
It seems like he's picking fights with all of us. What's he doing to you?
Okay but that's honestly hilarious, and I wish he had taken the bait. It's okay. We can find a new way to make him suffer if we put our heads together.
Oh! Well, I made the mistake of telling him I didn't hate him. So now he's taken this as a challenge. He can keep trying, but I'm going to kill him with a smile! Or my hammer if he screws around with you guys too much.
[... but hopefully, she won't need to. Stay good, Amy!!]
I'm all in favor of teaching him a lesson. He seems to think that Sonic and I are going to protect him from all consequences, just because we don't want him to be outright killed.
You got under his skin that easily, huh? Interesting. I suppose it makes sense, though, given... it's Eggman.
I warned him about that, actually! He's gonna screw around with the wrong person and find out someday. SPEAKING of lessons, apologies for the electrical outage the other day. You didn't get hurt, right? Sonic gave you the message?
[ Given he's talking to her and seems fine, she's gonna assume he did! Buuuut she wants to confirm. ]
Full disclosure, he and I argue quite a bit. He said he enjoys our 'mutual hatred' towards one another, and then seemed a little upset when I told him I didn't. You know. Hate him.
Oh, yeah, thanks for the heads up! I made it through just fine. I can't say the same for all of my things, but... at least I don't feel as bad about still working on my setup. Less progress means less progress to lose.
I'm going to make surge protection my next top priority, I think. And maybe some waterproofing too.
Anyway, that tracks. Being hated is probably the only way he's used to anyone caring at all. If we all organized and gave him the silent treatment for a week, he'd probably go right off the deep end.
(... although that would likely make him double down and screw around with people even more. Maybe don't add it to our list of ideas!)
Sorry about that, do you need help replacing or cleaning or anything? Actually, it doesn't matter 'cause I'm gonna help anyways.
Yeah, please do all of that and more. I will also come and help you with that, too. Whatever you need, please let me know, okay?
He might, but also, he might plot extremely nefarious stuff while we're giving him the silent treatment and I dunno if I want to chance that...
Do you know where he lives, by any chance?
(I think no matter what we do, he's gonna screw around with everyone as much as possible, let's be real. He's in a world full of new stuff, surrounded by people who don't like him. He's gonna be a real jerk regardless of what we do. :') )
Some clean-up help would be welcome! Or even just the company, if you want to stop by while I'm fixing things. Feel free to drop in whenever!
[That's how he's used to things, really. Keeping his doors open for friends — especially Sonic, who's not known for making plans in advance — to come and go as they please. But speaking of living arrangements...]
Unfortunately, I only know where his workshop is. He might have also moved in there, [since Tails knows all too well that it helps to have your workbench close by in case inspiration strikes in the dead of night,] but I can't say for sure without taking a closer look around.
You're probably right. What we do probably won't make a difference. That being said, there's a big unknown variable at play here — all the people who aren't from our world. Some of them seem to be... okay with him? Maybe not friends, exactly, but...???
[[OOC: TEN THOUSAND YEARS LATE THANKS TO BURNOUT, SO IF YOU WANNA ABANDON THIS OR TAKE IT IN A TOTALLY DIFFERENT DIRECTION THAN YOU ORIGINALLY PLANNED NO WORRIES]]
I am afraid a recent conversation with Eggman has inspired him to plan something against Sonic.
I know full well that he is capable of defending himself, but I did not wish to leave this alone without properly warning you all and taking responsibility.
Seriously? I guess he hasn't learned much, has he? Not gratitude, at least.
[Since this is just par for the Eggman course, it comes as more of a mild disappointment than a cause for alarm. In fact, it's not even until the last two words that Tails registers the real reason Espio reached out.]
You don't have to blame yourself for his decisions. What did you even say to him?
Well, weirdly enough? Based on some of the comments on the TailsTube video, there's at least a few people here who think he's pretty okay. Granted, they don't know his history, but I'm not about to assume that they'd fall for a bad act from Eggman.
On the other hand... he's definitely treating all of us the same as ever. So I'm not holding my breath that he'll prove you wrong.
[ANYWAY:] You mean the murder mystery where I played the detective, right? Yeah, I remember it!
[He almost types "how could I forget", simply because of how fun it was to solve the mystery. But he catches himself: Espio just explained the problem. Timelines.]
Fox. [There is only a single word, from the most unlikely individual, getting Tail's attention. And before Tails can ask what's going on, an image is provided of a robot cleanly punched through it's chest cavity. It's internal mechanism exposed. Shadow held some restraint to ensure this robot remains relatively intact.]
Shadow? [Because yeah, unlikely is right. For a moment, he wondered if someone was practicing their impressions—]
[But the image comes through, complete with what may as well be Shadow's signature on his own handiwork.]
Whoa. Where did you run into this one? [He zooms in on the image to get a better look, first at the exposed internal components before scrolling up to the head.]
[Besides what you'd normally find in a machine, there appears to be a crystal core at it's center, turned a dull gray. There are also parts in it's structure that seem more organic than artificial.]
Outside of Shellton. They aren't just on this island.
Of course they aren't. [Sorry — the sass isn't directed at you, Shadow. Just the universe, which would never give them a problem that's small and easy to contain.]
Okay. First things first, we'll need to keep track of where we run into them. They should be centralized around their source... whatever that is.
[Because it hardly needs to be said that this one doesn't look like Eggman's brand of badnik, and not just because of the lack of his grinning face-logo. Not that he's ruling it out entirely. Collaborations aren't off the table, now that the doctor's networking.]
That should also be where we would find more elite units. [A beat, before he asks:] ... did it attack you before you busted it open?
[It's not a complete lie. Because on the one hand, Shadow's testimony is short, simple, and borderline useless. But at least Tails is getting a good picture of what he'll need to investigate on his own.]
Well, there's a few ways we can figure out what they're after. First one would be to check if its internal drives are still in one piece, and decrypting the data on those. Second would be finding one to tail, but... we might not get anything useful from that until if and when it reaches its target. So I wouldn't recommend it as Plan A.
Third: We figure out where they're coming from, and get our answers from the source. [In his mind, he's picturing a large map with pins pushed in for each robot encountered. Exact locations and counts. And then from there, they could start making some educated guesses on the source. String could be involved. You know, the kind of stuff Vector loves.]
[Maybe for the future, he can make a gadget for Shadow that'll track the time and location of his fights for him. Pitch it as a way of keeping score. Like a step counter, except for kills.]
[But for now...] Let's start with what this one knows. Are you still near Shellton?
[He's listening, just has nothing to add. Waiting for something to stick with the fox. There's someone he wish was here to handle the tracking of these things, but if he must, he can note any future sightings and provide the intel to the fox.]
Could you not make a tracker? [Or is the technology here too simple to make one for long distance?]
Do you need my exact location? [He is assuming the fox wants to meet in person to examine the machine itself.]
Approximate should be fine. And a landmark would really help! [In the background, there's the sound of tools getting packed up.]
So, as far as a tracker goes: that's going to depend on what we're looking for. A couple of trackers for individual bots would be super easy, and we'd just need to figure out which one is the best to go after!
On the other hand, if we want to track all of them... I'll have to examine one and see what they're made of. Unfortunately, not everything radiates a powerful, distinctive energy signature like a chaos emerald. But there still may be something in these guys that would pick up on a wide-area scanner.
We track a few. [All of them would get tedious. Pinpoint the correct target as the fox says, and they'll do the work for them.
He looks around the area for a moment. The next thing Tails will get is a photo. Off in the distance are the docks. So he's somewhere near the coast. There's a lone tree and large stone next to it, closer in the camera's perspective.]
[Because once he's flying over the area, it doesn't take long for him to see the docks in the photo. From there, he can locate the lone tree pretty quickly, do some quick triangulation between the two...]
[And come in for a smooth landing just a few feet away from the downed robot.]
[Today's your lucky day, Fox. In which he's not in a bullying mood, yet. He quietly watches as Tails approach. A few stray sparks come off the machine, but other than that, remains motionless.
Despite the crystal core's color having gone dim, there are still faint traces of energy that one with the tech could pick up. A new unknown source of energy, likely whatever the crystal once gave off. There were other parts of the robot that also did not seem completely artificial. It's almost as if, the mechanics were built over something that was one alive, if one were to examine the casing more closely. Perhaps it be better to describe the robot as more cyborg-like.]
[It's good to know Shadow has his priorities in order, more or less.]
[There's different scents mixed in with the usual metal and motor oil, ones that make his nose wrinkle as he approaches the form of the robot.] Eugh. I guess it didn't just look more organic. Let's see...
[Since he's still playing catchup with his tech from back home, the scanner he's brought to monitor the energy readings is a bit more rudimentary — in fact, he's using a small metal baton attached to his shellphone, which he waves around the gem like a metal detector.]
Hm. There's only a little energy left in this core. But if I can amplify it, I should be able to isolate the signature... so we'd better get it out of there, just in case anything in its body draws a phantom load.
[He takes a deep breath in before reaching in to slowly and methodically pull connectors away from the core. This is a really good example of why organic and robot isn't always a great mix — since despite holding his breath, he can still smell something cooked in there.]
[It certainly something that differentiates them from Eggman's usual protocol. He would normally imprison small creatures in his creations and not...whatever made this. He huffs, irritated with himself that he would even consider to seperate this from Eggman. They're all a threat in the end.
He watches as the fox works to release the core from it's connectors. He could tell the smell was bothering him, looking over the rotting machine for a moment. So he kneels down.]
Instruct me. [The Fox should focus on gathering intel and let him handle dissecting whatever materials he would need from the machine.]
[He nods, then backs up to let Shadow act as his hands.]
All right. Please be careful, and try to avoid letting anything with body fluids interact with the exposed electronics any more than they already have. As long as there's still a power source, there's a risk of something short circuiting.
[And as if to demonstrate, a damaged part of the machine gives a small buzz and a flash of sparks. Not big enough to hurt either of them, but enough to risk further damage to the wreckage. Including the parts Tails could potentially learn from.]
Once the core's out of there, though, removing other parts should be easy. Being able to replace pieces quickly would be important for repairs... [Though that's assuming that the creator did intend to have the machines repaired, rather than treating them like expendable drones. Otherwise...? That's a chilling thought.]
[He stares at the core, recalling what the Fox was doing a moment ago. He's not concern about getting shocked himself, frying the machine though should be avoided. Carefully, he reaches within and continues where the Fox had left off. One by one, the connectors are removed from the crystal core. A few sparks will go off here and there. He waits, but the machine doesn't explode. Though these hands can destroy, he can be surprisingly delicate and patient if the task requires it of him.
Eventually, the core is safely removed from the machine, now being offered to the fox.]

because I'm pretty sure you intended it to go to Eggman but it's coming to me instead
Anyways thanks a lot in advance!

Yeah, it was meant for Dr. Eggman. I thought he had just blocked it, not rerouted the messages.
I thought it was weird he gave up so quickly...
[Apparently, trying to sic Amy on Tails was his revenge.]

I figured as much. And, yeah, he and I are in sort of a 'battle' of our own right now, so I'm not surprised he did that. -_-
